What is Viewability rate?

Viewability rate is the share of measured impressions that were actually viewable. Under the MRC standard a display ad counts when half its pixels are on screen for at least one second.

Worked example

If viewable impressions is 690,000 and measured impressions is 1,000,000, then Viewability rate = 69.00%.

Viewability rate = (Viewable impressions ÷ Measured impressions) × 100

Tactical application guide

Viewability rate links viewable impressions and measured impressions in a fixed ratio, so any two pin down the third. Planning backwards is where it earns its keep: enter the viewable impressions you have and the Viewability rate you are targeting, and the solver tells you the measured impressions you must secure. Or lock measured impressions and Viewability rate from a benchmark to see the viewable impressions that plan implies before you commit.
