CPL (Cost per Lead)
CPL is the average cost of each lead captured, often through a native lead form.
Formula
CPL = Spend ÷ Leads

What is CPL?
CPL is the average cost of each lead captured, often through a native lead form. Low CPLs from in-platform forms can hide poor lead quality, so pair it with lead-to-customer rate.
Worked example
If spend is $6,000 and leads is 240, then CPL = $25.00.
CPL = Spend ÷ Leads
Formula variable breakdown
- spendSpend
- Enter spend directly, or leave it blank and let the solver calculate it from the other 2 fields.
- leadsLeads
- Enter leads directly, or leave it blank and let the solver calculate it from the other 2 fields.
- cplCPL(output)
- Enter CPL directly, or leave it blank and let the solver calculate it from the other 2 fields.
Tactical application guide
CPL links spend and leads in a fixed ratio, so any two pin down the third. Planning backwards is where it earns its keep: enter the spend you have and the CPL you are targeting, and the solver tells you the leads you must secure. Or lock leads and CPL from a benchmark to see the spend that plan implies before you commit.
