What is ARPU?
Publisher ARPU is the ad revenue earned per unique user over a period. It shifts the question from how much a page is worth to how much an audience member is worth, which matters for subscriptions and first-party data strategy.
Worked example
If ad revenue is $54,000 and unique users is 1,200,000, then ARPU = $0.05.
ARPU = Ad revenue ÷ Unique users

Tactical application guide
ARPU links ad revenue and unique users in a fixed ratio, so any two pin down the third. Planning backwards is where it earns its keep: enter the ad revenue you have and the ARPU you are targeting, and the solver tells you the unique users you must secure. Or lock unique users and ARPU from a benchmark to see the ad revenue that plan implies before you commit.
